SPC’s College of Public Safety Administration offers programs that provide training in specific and employable skills such as computer related crime investigation, homeland security and crime scene technology – all of which can be applied to an associate degree in either Criminal Justice Technology, or Crime Scene Technology.

Criminology and Law Enforcement Degrees
SPC offers a wide range of degrees for people looking to either start their or advance their career in law enforcement or criminology. Our programs vary from training academies for corrections and law enforcement, to Public Safety Administration degrees. Whether you are looking to be crime scene investigator, a digital forensics specialist, or a corrections officer, we have a program for you.

Crime Scene Technology
St. Petersburg College was one of the first regionally accredited colleges in the U.S. to offer an associate in science degree and professional certificate program in Crime Scene Technology.
Our Associate in Science degree prepares you to work in crime scene investigations and to earn your bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Administration at SPC. The A.S. degree gives you a working knowledge of crime scene technology and a chance to participate in lab and field experiences, mock crime scene exercises and moot court hearings.
Our program prepares you to work as a Forensic Science Technician in the field of crime scene investigations, with a specialty in crime scene technology.
Below are some of the many skills you will learn in our Crime Scene Technology programs:
- Search a crime scene and gather data
- Record a crime scene and related evidence
- Collect and develop evidence
- Preserve and develop fingerprints
- Map, measure and log the crime scene

Cutting-Edge Public Safety Training Facilities
St. Petersburg College offers many real-world facilities to help you learn specific and employable skills. SPC’s cutting-edge Fire and Public Safety Training Center offers simulations of real-life emergencies and is one of the most advanced in the state. Training facilities at the Allstate Center include a mock courtroom and jail, firing range, defensive tactics training room, and a road course for tactical and defensive driving training.
