Dental Hygiene Programs
Our dental hygiene A.S. program consistently produces graduates who perform extremely well on the state and national licensing exam and find jobs in the field. With SPC’s A.S. degree in dental hygiene, you gain the technical expertise to excel in this growing field.
Our program has been educating students for 50 years and has excellent job placement rates. As part of the program, students work in our dental clinic, which provides dental hygiene services (cleanings and x-rays) to more than 2,500 patients a year.

Dental Hygiene Degrees and Careers
Our Dental Hygiene A.S. Degree program consistently produces graduates who excel on the state and national licensing exam and find jobs in the field. This degree transfers to our bachelor’s degree, which is the first and only baccalaureate program in dental hygiene in Florida and one of the largest degree completion programs in the nation.
Continuing Success
Between 2007-13, 94% of our dental hygiene graduates have found jobs in the field, are continuing their education or serving in the military.
Dental Hygiene Clinic
You gain valuable experience as a dental hygiene student at the St. Petersburg College Dental Hygiene Clinic, where you can help provide cleaning and x-ray services to more than 2,500 community members each year. Located at the Health Education Center, the clinic offers a supervised learning environment for Dental Hygiene A.S. Degree students and affordable preventive dental care for residents.
Florida’s Only Dental Hygiene B.A.S. Degree Offered Completely Online
SPC’s Dental Hygiene B.A.S. Degree is the first and only bachelor’s degree program in dental hygiene in Florida and is one of the largest degree completion programs in the nation. This online program can help licensed dental hygienists improve their career opportunities in management, education or sales.
Online Program Features
- This degree completion program is for licensed dental hygienists who want to progress from their associate to bachelor’s degree.
- The program is offered completely online and has no campus or residency requirements.
- Classes are very interactive with discussion boards that foster professional camaraderie.
- Students are accepted during the fall and spring and progress through the program in 24 months with the same 15-20 students.
- Courses are offered one at a time for six to eight weeks, followed by one week off.
- Your capstone course lasts 14 weeks and integrates your career interests through teaching, interning or observing.
